About the moderator ban feature for 123 Flash Chat HTML client

" Why moderators can ban now? It should not be that way..."
It has been asked many times since the release of our V10.0

Actually this is not something new poped up in V10.0; The feature was enabled in the changelist of V9.9 together with other improvement for html5 client.  But it was known widely since V10.0 because there are more and more users starting to shift their chat from flash client to the html5 client.

Why should we make moderators can ban?

Well this came from a request that customers have been asking for a long time that an admin should be able to ban in a specific room. Some users have even tried to customize this;

Due to Admin's universal power and connections with admin panel, this feature is uneasy to get brought into overnight; And we adopted another way to make it happen, i.e. to authorize moderators to be able to ban.

Actually moderators are room specific so if they are endowed with the admin ban privilege they can work the same way as admins can ban users room specifically.

However, this feature has been less than succeful since a decent feature cannot be realized behind the curtain; Room specific bans for admins only will be realized soon and we will then discuss if we should remove this feature for moderators to ban.

Hi,
I think the system is fine.

I just think there needs to be (Room Owners) / (Room Moderators)

A room owner would be like a Room Administrator that has FULL power of the room.
Example: Room Admin should be able to ban from the current room, change room names, add a room password, kick, mute, silent mute, etc!
A room moderator would be limited in power of the room.
Example: Room Moderator shouldn't be able to ban from the current room but be able to kick, silent mute, mute, and or access any of the room settings.

There should be a way to add more than one Room Owners if needed and of course the ability to add more moderators.

I really hope you DO NOT remove the ban management from HTML5 I say just improve on it from the methods above.

Let me clarify to the best I can on what I mean.

Currently there is:
Super Admins
Admins
Moderators

Is there a way to add Super Moderators?

So then there would be:
Super Admins
Admins
Super Moderators
Moderators

Super Moderators:
- Super Moderators would have full control or power of that room to where they were specified.
So they would be able to: Ban, Kick, Mute, Silent Mute, Access Room Settings, Add Moderator, Add Super Moderator, Remove Super Moderator / Moderator, etc!

Moderators:
- Moderators would have basic control or power of that room to where they were specified.
So they would be able to: Kick, Mute, Silent Mute, and being able to turn on Moderated Mode. (That's it)

Having it set up like this would let site owners control who has what power for each room.

I've said it many times is to improve the administration and let us create user roles and let us define what a user can or can't do.

However I wouldn't want to see the Ban Management disappear for those few complaining about it when it can be easily fixed by improving it with the above method(s).

If you guys do decide to remove this functionality for whatever reason at least put it into a Module for those who do use it and like this feature can have it.

Thanks.

PS.
I hope this makes better sense than the other post.

Dear Friend,

Sorry for my late response, currently, this feature is not on our roadmap, i will report it to our developer, maybe we will add it into the standard version in future.

Thanks for your always support.

why did you run update-source? Just curious if everything was working. No idea about fail2ban will add it to the list
